Default The Pirate (Since you already got ninjas (assassins)

I hope the next chapter brings the Pirate. They should because hello, if you are gonna have ninjas (assassin) have pirates. If you feel they shouldn't because we got warriors with swords, then let them have some speciality in using a hook or some Talking Parrot biting at your eye.

There are way too many Jack Sparrow fans who won't disagree because look at all the classes that clashes because Captain Jack Sparrow is in use.

of cource not, we like jack he's funnier.
Though he was less sly in 2, which was kind of adissapointment, had they shown what he had been doing inside the prison I think that would have made up for it.

Why? what is this undeniable link between pirates and ninjas.
(besides both of them being in the final fantasy MMO)
If its that they are both 'the sneaky side' then I demand Deulists, Acrobats, Shades, thieves and Agents.

If you have a concept for your class, or just a explantion fo what these pirates do for us, please tell us can't tell if your pirate idea is any good without an explanation.

Also if you only want a pirate because you've seen PotC 1 or 2 then you should go play Vojage century online its a game about sailors and pirates, you've got ship battles, exploration, pistols and muskets.
It would take a lot of time for guild wars to get that even if the devs wanted it, which I doupt they do as the PotC trend will flatline some day and GW should ofcource not do so along with it.

I'm all for it, as long as if, in a skirmish, the pirate wins. Because everyone knows pirates>ninjas.

^ Just not true..... ok.

I'd love a pirate proffession in GW, just for laughs.

Just some skill idea.

Eye poke.

6 adren 1/2 activiation. hook mastery

elite hook attack, target foe take 20 ... 60 damage and suffers from blind and deep wonud for 15 seconds.

I would die a happy man if they did that.

P.S in a 1 on 1 Ninja > pirate.

Age old debate over who would win. Pirates or Ninjas.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_versus_Ninjas

Would be fun to see a Pirate profession with possibly a Crossbow,Sword or Dagger.

I am not too sure too.. but one conclusion I could come up with is their linkage in pop-culture.

Ninjas, while always have its appearence in the pop-cultures, has only gain a larger following and popularity thanks to the anime show "Naruto". Pirates are of same, with the huge popularity of Pirates of Caribbean and One Piece (which would be more for the Japane's and underground-anime's follow, less from what they show on that Fox Box). Afterall, think back to say 6 years ago, which no one really care too much about Ninjas and Pirates.

Therefore, it is the link of the two, which suggest that if the Dev satisfy the Nartuo-fan boy's Ninja desire with Assassin, they should also give the Jack-wannabe's some love.

Anyhow, I don't think Pirates have much place in GW. HOwever, an similar class, like Duelist, with a pirtated look (eye patch, tranch coat, triangle hat, rapier) could work.

To sum it up:
Pirates > Ninjas

BTW the Assassins in the game are portrayed like real ninjas rather than "true" Arabian assassins.

I'd say that, in Guild Wars, being a pirate is more of a vocation than a profession. Between the Crimson Skull in Factions and the corsairs of Nightfall, you see pirates of every profession, although Assassins do seem to be restricted to bosses.

If something pirate-ey was to be introduced, I'd probably be inclined towards actionjack's suggestion: have a profession that fights in a similar style to the 'classic' pirate without specifically being one, and have a pirate look to one of the armour sets (or possibly pirate-ey armour sets for all professions in some pirate base outpost).

Ahhh, thanx actionjack && gasmaskman, I get it now its a bloggers/pop-culture thing.

In which case the acrobat should really pop culturised, as they own both a pirate and a ninja in 1on1(acrobats co-operate like sh*t, they kinda need enough free movement space)

But all in all its unreasonable, as both ninjas and acrobats go for a insta kill sneak attack of they suprise the other or the pirate they automatically win, however is the pirate is not suprised he uses his pistol(preferably at point blanc) as a bullet moves faster than the speed of sound it is hard to dodge and imposible to doge at point blanc, the chance of a insta kill is quite large.

therby pirate <> ninja its a matter of chance, but in a melee brawl acrobat > pirate || ninja

I believe it's settles. Pirates are a must! A Pirate with a gun would make no difference than some affar attacker using a staff, sceptor or bow.

I love ninjas but Pirates would win cause Pirates cheat more than ninjas. Ninjas goes by a stupid code and Pirates aren't gonna follow anything that sounds like guidelines.

What if the Pirates could say things like, "Arrgh!, Huzzah!!" and had a touch elite where you get foes drunk to death by too much rum.

This isn't even a class idea, it doesn't take a thread to point out that there could be pirates. Personally, I hope they do not limit a sea faring class to piratism, there are a great number of sailor identities, and in a chapter with sailing and naval combat, there will be dozens of creatures and "alliances" using the so called sea faring class, if you limit it to pirate, than they are all "pirates" even if they don't chose to act like one.
